Ever wondered why some Facebook pages have a blue or grey tick icon next to their profile name, while yours has nothing? It means their page has been verified and here’s why yours should be too.
While it may be something you’ve never thought about before, Facebook verification for business pages is actually quite important and is definitely something you should look into. But first of all, what is the difference between a blue and grey tick?
A blue verification tick that appears next to some profile names indicates that Facebook has officially verified the account and can confirm it is an authentic account of a prominent public figure. These ticks are generally only seen on accounts that are of the highest popularity/most public concern, such as big time celebrities, sports stars, official government agencies and internationally renowned companies. With that in mind, these blue ticks certainly aren’t available to everyone! Pages will only be eligible for this tick if they can prove their authenticity and meet Facebook’s verification requirements.
Grey ticks on the other hand are readily obtainable verification notes for businesses that can help their social media presence in a number of ways. You will be eligible for a grey tick if your Page’s category is Local Business, Company or Organisation.
If you are advertising products or services on your Facebook page and you don’t have a grey tick, some Facebook users (and potential customers!) might not fully trust your page. The grey tick offers your customers a sense of security and they will be more likely to interact with not only your page but your business and everything you have to offer. This sense of credibility among viewers will be an incredibly important improvement on your online presence and should help consumers become more aware of your posts, knowing that they are 100% legitimate and not created by someone trying to rip them off.
Another advantage of having a verified account is that it increases your likelihood of being found in a Facebook search. If you are a verified account, when users are searching for your business type, you are more likely to appear than those businesses who have not been verified by Facebook. It almost gives you an immediate competitive advantage in the online world over some of your competition, which could lead to further success in your field of work.
How do I get verified?
Getting verified is actually quite a simple process!
On your business’ Facebook profile, click “Settings” and then click onto “Page Verification”. You will be prompted to enter in your company’s phone number, upon finalising this you will receive a call on that number that will contain a four number code. Enter this code into the box provided (as shown below) and just like that, your page will be verified and a grey tick will be displayed on your profile.
So Facebook Page Verification is a quick and easy way look a little more professional in the eyes of Facebook users, which may be existing customers or even potential new customers.
