Facts about China & Weibo

Currently up to 600 Million people and growing, China has the world’s biggest internet user base today and has the world’s most active environment for social media platforms. There are also several regulations to observe when managing a social media platforms in China, and every business activity must require users to follow the national law.

 

Since the main international social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, do not currently choose to follow Chinese regulations, their government has blocked their use. Sina Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging website similar to a hybrid of Twitter and Facebook, is the most popular social media networking site in China. 

 

According to Statista, there were around 674 million social media users in China. As Chinese social media contains a large number of users, there are many companies who need help with managing their brand on social media. Consumers are always looking for platforms that allow them to have a direct communication with their brands, and Weibo performs a significant role for companies to engage audiences within China.
